PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY ACTIVITIES:
Advances in science and engineering increasingly require the collaboration of scholars from various fields. This shift is driven by the need to address complex problems that cut across traditional disciplines, and the capacity of new technologies to both transform existing disciplines and generate new ones. At the same time, however, interdisciplinary research can be impeded by policies on hiring, promotion, tenure, proposal review, and resource allocation that favor traditional disciplines.
The mission of the professional societies is primarily educational and informational. Their influence flows from their continuing and highly visible functions: to publish professional journals, to develop professional excellence, to raise public awareness, and to make awards.
Students are provided opportunities to join as members in the professional societies mentioned below :
- INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS (IEEE) ,KOLKATA STUDENT CHAPTER
- ASSOCIATION FOR COMPUTER MACHINERY (ACM), STUDENT CHAPTER
- COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA (CSI), KOLKATA STUDENT CHAPTER
