Overview

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was established in 2012. The department strives to impart quality education and training to computer engineers to excel in the booming software industry of our country. The department maintains an excellent teaching and learning environment through dedicated and experienced faculty members and well equipped laboratory infrastructure. Students are encouraged to learn beyond established curriculum through exposures in state of the art technology areas as well as latest trends in industry practices through visiting industry specialists.

Objectives

• Be the undergraduate Computer Science department of choice in West Bengal and be recognized as one of the top research and graduate Computer Science departments in the nation.
• Advance the State-Of-The-Art in computer science and software engineering through the achievement of fundamental advances, testing these advances through their application to hard problems.
• Instruct undergraduate students in the scientific and engineering methods pertinent to computer science and software engineering in order to lead students to a point of understanding where they remain inquisitive, serious, ethical, and creative problem solvers.
• Be recognized as one of the top public educational and research computer science departments in India, attracting the best students, faculty, and staff.
• Prepare students to be leaders and decision makers, articulate and principled, innovative and confident, and able to think critically with sound reasoning ability.

Message

Department of Computer Science and Engineering strives to increase knowledge, critical thinking and ability to apply knowledge for betterment of the society in each and every student who has been part of this department.

With highly qualified faculty members and experienced staff, well-equipped laboratories and continuous interaction with students, the department enables students to learn above and beyond their prescribed syllabus. The ultimate objective for each teaching staff is to guide students to develop both theoretical and practical knowledge and position them to become enterprising engineers in coming years.

Seminars and workshops are organized at regular intervals where eminent academicians and industry stalwarts share their experiences and thoughts with students and faculty members. Through these seminar/workshops and periodic trainings conducted on and off-campus help students be aware of new research areas and current trends in industry practices.

The world of information technology has become overwhelmingly pervasive today. All aspects of our daily life is impacted by tools and technologies developed by Computer Scientists and Engineers. Our department thus emphasizes on teaching core theory underlying diverse aspects of computer science along with its applications. With a solid foundation and problem solving techniques, students are well equipped to adapt to rapid changes in the computing world.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, abbreviated CSE, is offering an undergraduate engineering degree program since the establishment of the College in the year 2012 with a view to offer quality higher education to numerous worthy young fellows as well as to meet the huge demand of highly qualified specialists in the field.
